Carl Perkins Center Expands Services to include Relative Caregiver Program
The
Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse of Haywood
County not only helps children; it offers help for families, too. Through a new
Relative Caregiver Program, family members who have primary care and control of
a child through informal arrangements or through legal custody or guardianship
are now being offered services previously not available. The caregiver must be
related to the child by blood, marriage or adoption to qualify.
Services
offered include short-term case management, parent education, support groups
for children and for caregivers, educational workshops, emergency financial
assistance and recreational activities.
Support
groups meet from 10:00 to 11 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the
Carl Perkins Center in Brownsville. Call Pauletta Miller or Linda Burns,
772-8378, for more information.
