The City of Brownsville Police Department recognized Brownsville residents Raven Hurdle and Sheila Reed with the “Saved by the Belt” Award from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office. Each year crashes are reviewed for citizens that were involved in serious crashes with little or no injury. Both of these drivers were victims in crashes but received minor injury because of their seatbelt use. Gift certificates from Domino’s and Wal-Mart accompanied the awards. Lt. Barry Diebold presented the awards to Hurdle and Reed at the City Board Meeting February 9, 2010. Dennis Corkery, of Brownsville, also received this award but was unable to attend the ceremony.
