Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be held Monday July 6 & 20, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, July 22, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838: Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. For more information, call the Chamber at 772-2193 or Parks and Rec. at 772-6693. Pick Up Boston Butts for 4th of July Holiday: Enjoy wonderful pulled pork Bar-B-Q this Fourth of July holiday. Just ask any Exchange Club member or place your order with the Chamber of Commerce, 772-2193. The cost is $30 with order and the 8-pound butts can be picked up wrapped and ready to go, right off the smoker on Thursday, July 2nd from 5PM to 6PM at the WOW building parking lot. The deadline for ordering is Friday, June 26th. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Tennessee Walking Horse Classic: The Brownsville-Haywood County Tennessee Walking Horse Classic will be held at the East Side Arena beginning at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009. The popular “Stick Horse” competition, for children 6 & under, will be the first class of the night. World Grand Champion and World Champion horses will be entered into competition. Trainers and exhibitors are expected from all over Tennessee and several other states. Concessions will be provided by the Brownsville Exchange Club with proceeds benefiting the Carl Perkins Child Advocacy Canter. Tickets are $5 per person, children 6 and under get in free, and box seats for 6 are available for $50. Back to Calendar Tabernacle Camp Meeting: Tabernacle United Methodist Church is hosting its annual week-long revival beginning Friday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. There will be three daily services at the church; 7 a.m. prayer meeting, 10:30 a.m. worship and 7:30 p.m. worship. All are welcome to attend any service that fits your schedule. Other regularly held services include Love Feast on Sunday at 9:15 a.m., Memorial Service Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and the Heritage Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Ellsworth Kalas will be the guest preacher for the weekend, followed by Dr. Brent Strawn. Dr. Strawn is an Associate Professor of Old Testament at the Candler School of Theology Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Hatchie Goes Country: Tickets to the Brownsville Baptist Church’s annual Dinner Theater production of “Hatchie Goes Country” will be available beginning Monday morning, July 13, at the church. Performances will be nightly July 28-31, at 6:30 p.m. This year the characters of Hatchie Country will set sail aboard the Hatchie Queen to Music City USA - a Grand Ole Opry show that will be unforgettable, with those Nasty River People at the center of all the complications. Butterfly Release: The Haywood County office of Wo/Men Resource & Rape Assistance Program (W.R.A.P.) will be participating in the annual Butterfly Release held at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Tenn., on Saturday, July 18 from 9 a.m. noon. The release of the butterflies represents support of victims of domestic and sexual violence. Butterflies are available for purchase in honor or memory of loved ones. Other activities including crafts, games and prizes will be featured at the event. Ken-Ten Truck & Tractor Pull: The Ken-Ten Truck and Tractor Pull returns to Haywood County Saturday, July 18. Beginning at 7 p.m., and located on Anderson/Hwy. 76 S., next to Pictsweet, money raised at this event will benefit Park of Dreams, a new all-inclusive park being built in Volunteer Park. Camp E.D.G.E.: Union Grove United Methodist Church will conduct its summer Vacation Bible School, called Camp E.D.G.E., Monday through Wednesday, July 20-22, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Church is located in the Union Community on Hwy, 70 East. All Children are invited. Tennessee Trash Cruizin: Tennessee Trash will present a Cruise-In on Saturday July 25, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. The event will include a Poker Run and Pig & Whistle Party.
